A Flying Moose? Only in Canada

altOnly in Canada could a moose end up in the power lines. In Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada workers were stringing up power cables which were strung along the ground for miles. it was peak moose rut and one male moose gotten his antlers stuck in some cables when thrashing them around.

When the cable workers (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their power equipment, the moose went up with them. They noticed excess tension in the lines and found the moose.  He was still alive and was lowered to the ground with care to avoid his rutting attitude and 60 inch antlers.

Bear on top of Trash Truck

First we have a deer on top of a railroad car, and now we have a bear on top of a trash truck!  Police had to tranquilize the young bear who had apparently crawled into the truck overnight and then crawled out after it entered city limits.

27 point Kansas Antlered Doe!

Check out this antlered doe taken by Kansas hunter, Mike Smith, with a 100 yard shot in a wooded area.  The buck turned out to be a 27 point non-typical with double drops and still in velvet. But it also turned out to be, not a buck at all.   Mike is quoted as saying, “When I rolled it over there was nothing male-looking on the deer. I looked at the back end and it was definitely a doe. That was a real surprise.”

Mike thought the rack and velvet was because a buck had gotten injured while the antlers were growing, which sometimes happens with whitetails. The final doe will be full body mounted with the velvet still on the rack.  This could be the largest antlered doe on record but with out the velvet removed, it won't be officially scored.

Dove Rescues Rabbits

dove, baby rabbitsThese little bunnies, about 6 days old, were attacked by a dog and orphaned. They were moved to a rescue center but two out of the litter of five did not survive, and the remaining three were not doing well.

Another resident at the shelter is a non-releasable, one-legged homing pigeon/rock dove named Noah.  During the bunnies stay, Noah kept going over to the bunny cage and looking in as well as sleeping in front of the door to the cage. At one point one of the bunnies disappeared from the cage.  But when Noah moved a bit from the front of the cage it was found that the rabbit had managed to squeeze through the cage and find his way under Noah's wing.   Now, they are all together and the bunnies are doing GREAT!

When the bunnies scoot underneath Noah’s feathers,   he carefully extends his wings out to surround them and then they snuggle.   When one of them moves and they start sticking out here and there,   he gently pushes them back under him with his beak!  He "coos" as if singing them to sleep with a lullaby.

Noah helps out with many rescue babies at the Wild Rose Rescue Ranch, although the bunnies seem to be his favorite.

Noah’s first litter of bunnies, almost raised and ready for release.

He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge. - Psalm  91:4

Hold tightly to what is eternal and loosely to what is temporal.
