New Ohio Tagging / Licensing System

What do you guys think about the new licensing / tagging system in Ohio for this year? I don't know much about it actually. Beau and I were talking about it last week though...it sounds like you won't have to tag in your kill at a check station anymore.

How is this a good idea? If people no longer have to tag in an animal it makes it that much easier for people to poach doesn't it? I think poaching will go up under this regulation...

Thoughts? Anyone know the particulars about the new requirements?

Poachers will be poachers is my opinion.

Fin was piloting the program last fall... It was kind of odd what you had to go through, but I don't see it being too big of a problem. I believe landowners must either call in or go to a physical check station being that they are not required to purchase permitting/licensing. It's something along those lines, although I don't know the specifics.

I guess we'll see how it works out. Personally I like it, as it seems I always shoot a deer and get it cleaned about 5 minutes before every check station closes. It will be nice to just call in and start butchering the meat immedietly, rather than having to hang it and wait till the next day to even get a tag on it.

Yea you make a good point...I ALWAYS manage to shoot something on a Monday...when Fin is closed. HAHA so I have to hang it or drive all over looking for someplace open. I do like that aspect...but personally if I shoot something worth looking I'm going to have it a check station LOL I worked way too hard not to at least get 5 minutes of fame hahha.

It'll be interesting to see how it works out, I think there will be some benefits though.
