Best Cheap 12 gauge Slug

What's the best cheap 12 gauge slug you've used? I personally like the Brenneke KO's...I just wish they made them in 3 inch magnum's. I've got a smoothbore Mossberg 500 and at 75 yards I can shoot a 3 shot group with all of them just about touching.

Personally when I buy slugs I don't think I should need to refinance my house first...where I come from $7.00 a box is expensive

I don't have any personal expereince with performance on deerz. But my dad and cousin have used my slug gun on a few deer and had excellent results. The slugs I've used are the Brenneke Heavy Field-Short Magnum. The send out a serious wallop, and have very good ballistic characteristics. I haven't purchased any in years, since back in 2005 I bought about 20 packs of them. However, back then I'm thinking I paid around $3.99 for five rounds. I imagine they have gone up slightly in price, however in my opinion the accuracy, flat trajectory, and 100 yard KE values or well worth the extra cost.

It's funny I bought the gun in 2004, as it was the day before Thanksgiving and I still hadn't tagged a buck. The next day (Thanksgiving) I took a decent 9 point. I've never even deer hunted with the gun, but I generally always loan it out to my dad for gun season. He's taken a few with that setup, and the devastation from those slugs is crazy.

I've heard of those slugs, I haven't used them though. Are they 3"? The Brenneke KO's do major devastation out to about 75 yards but the KE value drops off significantly after that. I shot a buck at 85 yards with one and didn't get full penetration...and it was a behind the shoulder shot. That's not cool. Almost no blood.

Dang that is impressive. They have quite a bit more KE than the KO's. They actually have more than the Black Magic's which are 3" mags. My Dad shoots the brenneke Gold's and loves them

The Wincester Supreme sabot slugs work great. We (my dad and I) shot 1-1/2 to 2 inch groups at 100 yards. they aren't quite as expensive as the brenneke slugs and come the day before the season they are easier to find.
