I would recommend the Lonesome hen push-button dome call. Simple one-handed use w/ easy push control let's you handle your shot gun while calling in the bird. Less movement and adjustable pitch.
Best of all worlds.
Good Luck!

So are we going out hunting together or what?! You can't say it's your first season and not let me film!

Well your the one with the prime turkey lands hahaha. I'll tell ya what my friend, If you want me to tag along with ya, where you call it in and all I have to do is let the arrow fly and with you behind the camera that sounds good to me, or I can film you if you want to show me how it's done 5th season style. Let me know, I am game for anything and if I get a nice one i'm doin a full mount. That's a big IF

I have a smaller upper plate but I found the flextone calls to fit nicely and easy to use, there is also calls with the dome on them that are designed to almost position themselves in the mouth. try a few different ones and just practice it can be a long winter

Hey rackaholic! A word to the wise, if you hunt turkey's 5thseason style you'd better be ready to run your butt off haha. Beau and I worked a few gobblers last spring and holy mackerel my legs were burning...let's just say we hunt turkey's...aggressively
I also recommend the lonesome hen push button yelper...it sounds great. Another simple call to use is a hand held slate. Knight and Hale makes a couple of good ones. It's easy to pick up.
the single best piece of advice I can give you though is to pick up a couple of decoys. get a hen and a jake. When the gobbler comes in he will be more focused on the dekes than you...hopefully. just always always always face your decoys and don't turn away from them...even if the gobbler sounds like he's coming in on your side or behind you. Trust me on this...I've screwed up more than once trying to reposition only to have the bird circle around me and beat the crap out of my decoys while I sat there crying facing the wrong directions.
