Anyone heard any projections on how the coon fur market is lookng for 2011? I heard it was up in 2010. I got out of trapping a few years back since I wasn't making as much as I wanted.
Thanks in advance.

Rick,
Ohio’s Coon trapping season just wrapped up two weeks ago. Overall, prices were gaining momentum as the season came to a close. It is still too early to accurately predict fur prices for the following season. Many factors play into the pricing schedule (including location), but considering how the general economy is still moving slowly, I believe prices will at least hold current 2010-11 values. Whether or not that is due to the value of the furs increasing or the devaluation of the dollar is another matter and definitely a different post topic

What are the benefits of trapping? I really don't understand why you would wana make a little animal suffer with traps(leg snares)until you return to finish it off. I have found little critters in traps before while goin to my stand and I felt bad for the little guys haha. Someone fill me in and make me see the light haha I'm in full support of all outdoors sports and am sure that trapping is for a good reason.
